Wanderers League
What is this?
- An 8-month competition (February-October) over an exclusive course which is a collection of 18 unique holes spread out over 9 courses NW Ohio. For example Hole 1 is at Meadowbrook Park, Hole 2 is at Riverbend etc.
- You do not have to play courses in hole order. You can start at any course.
- Players have the whole spring and summer to play the “course.” Players must play the whole local course, not just the hole for Wanderers though.
- Players may attempt each hole as many times as they like. Each time trying to better their score.
How do I sign up?
- Register via PayPal to secondwindinstruments@gmail.com for $30. Only one division available. Only rounds occurring after payment is received will count. Please include in the notes “Wanderers 2023” as well as your name and PDGA# if applicable.
- Registration opens January 1st and continues until Oct 1st.
What holes are included this year for the Wanderers 18?
- See the Google Map of hole locations: Map
- Holes were not necessarily selected based on their difficulty. More so based on if they can provide scoring separation.
How is the score for a hole counted?
- Scores must be kept digitally via UDisc or PDGA-Live.
- The player must start on hole #1 unless competing in a tournament round with shotgun starts.
- The whole course must be played from the short tees. Exception given for rounds played during a formal league or event.
- If a hole has multiple pin locations, the longest pin must be used. If the longest pin is not in active layout at the time, then a temp basket may be used during a casual round.
- There must be at least one other person playing on the card to act as a witness. The other person does not have to be competing in Wanderers though or playing the same layout.
- A player must complete the whole course or at least an 18 hole layout. A round can be restarted at any time. So, if a player is trying to record a round at a course for hole #3 and they take a triple bogey on it, they can just restart at hole #1 (but must still send a screenshot where it will be recorded as “99”). This becomes more stressful later in the round as restarting would require more additional holes to replay.
- A player must throw the hole in tournament style play. Meaning no additional practice shots, no cali or mulligans, and no gimmie putts. When playing casually a player can throw the rest of the course however they like, but they must maintain tournament style play when playing the Wanderers hole.
- Players may be playing in a doubles format, but can only count the Wanderers hole if only the Wanderers player’s shots are taken.
How are scores submitted?
- Email a screenshot of the completed scorecard to josh@tailwindsfostoria.com
- A complete screenshot is necessary (no cropping)
Do I have to submit a score if I restart or do not improve my score for the hole?
- Yes, all attempts must be submitted. This is because the number of attempts is used as a tiebreaker if needed. See later question.
Where can I check the standings?
- Check the Google Sheet for overall and individual standings: Here
What are we playing for?
- This is a one division, winner takes most competition (minus costs of trophies.)
What if there is a tie at the end of the season for first place?
- In case of a tie for 1st place, the first tiebreaker will be the calendar date that the winning score was achieved. The second tiebreaker will be the number of attempts taken to achieve that score. Third tiebreaker is a throw off on an ace run hole that will be discussed if applicable.
Is there an ace pool?
- No, sorry.
When does it start and end?
- The first day to submit a score is Thursday February 23rd, 2023. Coinciding with the start of the DGPT season at the Las Vegas Challenge.
- The final day to submit a score is Sunday Oct 15th, 2023. Coinciding with the end of the DGPT season at the Tour Championships.
